Auckland youngster Taniela Moa has been called up to the New Zealand touring squad as a replacement for the injured Andy Ellis.
The 23-year-old scrumhalf trained with the All Blacks last week before the clash against the Wallabies as cover for Ellis. The youngster is clearly seen as a tremendous prospect and will join the squad after Auckland’s second round of their Ranfurly Shield match against Taranaki on Sunday.
Jimmy Cowan is likely to start against the Boks with Piri Weepu on the bench, but Ellis, who injured his ribs in the defeat to Australia in Sydney, further aggravated the injury during training this week and has not been included in the touring squad.
The All Blacks squad left for South Africa on Friday, giving them a week to prepare for the crucial encounter in Cape Town.
