Heyneke back to winning ways

Heyneke Meyer began his tenure in the English Premiership on a winning note with Leicester beating Gloucester 20-8 on Sunday.
The Tigers had been put through their paces in the pre-season, and the improved fitness levels were evident in Sunday’s big away victory. Meyer’s side only conceded one try despite a determined Gloucester attack, and the former Bulls mentor commended his charges for their dogged defence in the aftermath.
Butch James also inspired his English club to victory when Bath beat Bristol 33-20. The Springbok flyhalf kicked 18 points just eight days after the big Tri-Nations win over Australia at Ellis Park. This was also the first time Bath has beaten Bristol at the Memorial Stadium since 1998.
Bath coach Steve Meehan lauded James for his match-winning effort.
“He makes things look easy. He is one of those players who has time on the ball. He has a lot of confidence on the guys in front of him and he has this marvellous way of talking to everyone on the field to organise them.”
In other Premiership matches, a Nick Evans inspired Harlequins downed Saracens despite the try-scoring intentions of former Bok scrumhalf Neil de Kock. Faan Rautenbach’s London Irish were more successful in their 26-14 win over rivals Wasps on Saturday.

#50 Alibaba: Will we ever hear the truth though, just like with Hansie! There are a few angles to the story, least of which is Asterix apparently shagging a girl in a car in some obscure location! That is for him and his family to sort out.
His verbal attack is something else and he will have to please and explain. Then the culprit doing the blackmailing and the Bok involved.
Very early on Monday morning but I will wager a loose fiver on that nothing will happen leaving the people usually frothing at the mouth with even more ammunition and no winners!

I’ll tell you why the story isn’t on keo.co.za: it’s because Keo himself is involved:
“De Villiers said the ex-Springbok media officer, who is currently in a legal dispute with his employers, told him of a tape before the Boks lost to New Zealand in Cape Town last month.”
Keo is an “ex-Springbok media officer.” He is also unimpressed with Snor’s performance to date. You do the math. Perhaps he is in a legal dispute with Monarch publishing as a result of launching an attack on the current Bok coach in the press (something he has done before).
OK, I’m KIDDING!

But those of you who think Snor will be censured for saying he is considering giving the job “back to the whites” are confused about the nature of racism in South Africa. Whites are racist by definition, blacks and coloureds are not.

A good start for Heyneke. I don’t think everyone realises just how good Gloucester’s home record is. Having said that, Leicester does seem to have the wood on them.
It was an excellent start to the season, a bit shocked at the Wasps result. This is the second Guinness Premiership season I’m watching and I’ve got to say it’s a brilliant league. Do they show much of it in SA?

#70 Yetirat: Story first raised its head about two months ago that Snor enjoyed getting leg over before the game. He should be shouting it from the rooftops, most of the other managers couldn’t get lucky if they were paid. Of course they don’t have that sensual Snor!
