Smith sidelined for Valke clash
22 Sep 2008
Captain Juan Smith is unavailable for Free State’s match-up with the Valke due to a neck injury.
Much was made about Smith’s involvement in this Friday’s fixture, as Springbok coach Peter de Villiers requested on Monday that the South African flanker be rested. Cheetahs coach Naka Drotske said he would not rest Smith unless WP gave their own stars a break, an interesting statement given Allister Coetzee’s assurance his Boks would soldier on.
It seems injury has had the final say, as the knock obtained in the Cheetahs’ recent defeat to the Blue Bulls has ruled Smith out. The Free State skipper is currently in a neck brace and will be replaced by Hendro Scholtz at blindside flank for the clash in Brakpan.

#42 Windhond_Sharks: **** did some good things for the Sharks after he took over from Putt. However I was not too dissapointed when he left.

#49 Disa: ja, i know. We’ve played in too many semi’s and finals over the last 12 years with nothing to show for it. It pisses me off too. Strange, i think the last time we’ve had some silverware was when we won the currie cup with strauli. Ironic.

#52 It is just a game: He did, but i have a theory though.
Jake did well with the boks after Strauli. That’s becuase the boks were down and out.
**** did the same with the sharks after Putt.
Rassie with the Cheetahs.
Deans with Aus.
Easier to build from scratch than refurbish and existing team don’t you think?

#55 st.a.t.w: At least the Sharkies record is a bit better than the All Blacks!

#57 AB: can’t really say that, at least the AB’s have won the 3N and Bledisloe Cup a number of times over the last 12 years.
23 Sep 2008, 09:05 am
#57 AB: They battle to even make the finals.

Is AC now going to rest his alternative Springboks?
23 Sep 2008, 09:43 am
Irrelevant either way. Cheetahs will win with a bonus point, with or without Juan. Makes no difference. In the same way – anyone who knows anything about rugby will know – that even if AC rests most of his Boks – they will still win with a bonus in Boland (weather permitting).
