Mametsa spends night in jail

Bulls wing John Mametsa allegedly spent Friday night in a Pretoria police station just a week ahead of the Absa Currie Cup final.

Mametsa was reported to be eating at a coffee shop when he witnessed a car accident involving team-mate Fudge Mabeta, who has played lock for the Bulls this season. Mabeta had allegedly bumped into a traffic official’s vehicle and Mametsa wanted to know why Mabeta was pushed against the car and searched.

Ettiene Smit, co-owner of the restaurant, told Die Rapport that an argument ensued and that Mametsa was slapped by a traffic official and then arrested. Smit questioned the officers but he too was threatened.

“They [the traffic officials] were arrogant and very aggressive and said I would be arrested too if I didn’t go away,” Smit told Die Rapport.

Police are investigating the incident.

The cop should be grateful. I reckon Fudge and Mametsa would sort him out if they weren’t law abiding citizens.
Perhaps they should invite him down to Bulls training as a form of peacemaking. He can hold a few tackle bags for the boys to hit!

Power mad black cops beating a black man…racist no, unbelievable yes. Unfortunately this kind of thing happens more and more in SA.

Just the other day a women was assaulted by two traffic officers near my town. She drove to the police station and made her case. What happened – nothing, because when the traffic officers where questioned they pulled the race card. “She caleed us K…..s”
No one cared for the testimony of the white eyewhitness who tried to help her.

How do you know the officers were black? Not that it should matter what colour they are, although, if they were white, it would’ve been headline news, not even mr Lokota would beat them to main page of the Rapport.

G13G is on line, I thought i smelled bacon.

Disgracefull story that. Mametsa is a good player, I enjoy watching him play actually. He really does give his best every game.

I wonder if he’ll be allowed to play in the final or even if he’ll be picked.

i doubt if cops were just gonna moer Mametsa if he hadnt said anything offensive, to the extent of him resisting arrest……………..but whatever the case, still, they had no right to beat him up. MEthinks these COPS are Sharks supporters,,,,,,,,,,,

I thought Mametsa lived in Jail!!!

Theory 1. The cop was Jonathan Kaplin in disguise

Theory 2. It is an undercover ploy by the sharks to undermine the Bulls chances in the cc final.

Two of the excuses the Bulls will use this time next week when the Sharks are CC CHAMPIONS!!!
