The EDF cup is a pretty minor competition – hence that fact that most English teams rest their key players during these games.

However Meyer will come in for flack if he persists with Hougaard in stead of Flood. Flood’s creativity adds unpredictability to the Tigers which Hougaard simply cannot.

However Meyer has dragged Hougaard here as “insurance” and now needs to put him to use.

The only possible option is fullback – but the Tigers have Geordan Murphy – who is a star player in any team.

In short Meyer has made a mistake and it is going to be both interesting and a test of his character to see how he resolves this issue – club sucess of loyalty to Hougaard? Tricky!
