Superstars scoop $1 million

The Superstars team embarrassed England in the final of the Stanford Super Series as they won by 10 wickets and with it $1 million each.

Four of the Superstars team didn’t even bat or bowl in the one-sided victory, but along with their team-mates they won the lucrative prize-money offered up by Texan millionaire Allen Stanford.

England were skittled for a miserly 99 with spinner Sulieman Benn claiming 3-16. Chris Gayle and Andre Fletcher then chased down the total with with 44 balls to spare. Gayle romped to 65* of 45 balls, which included five sixes – the final one bringing up the victory.

England 99 all out in 19.5 overs (Samit Patel 22, Sulieman Benn 3-16)

Stanford Superstars 101 without loss after 12.4 overs (Chris Gayle 65*, Andre Fletcher 32*)

#5 grant10: Morning,….. could the answer be that you are two hours ahead of us and I did have a very, very late night.

Looked for Butch James in every pub, bar and club in Bath (well nearly), thought he might have been drowning his sorrows after Bath RFC were knocked out of the EDF cup on Friday!!!

#16 tokolosi: This is the worst possible thing that can happen to West indies cricket. These new millionaires have no incentive to succeed. They have taken away their drive…..

what a choke by the poms.

apparently pieterson said to chris gayle that he didn’t need the money.

i guess the superstars wanted it more than the fat cat poms.

seriously how much are the poms making if they don’t need half a million quid? actually that would be around 600,000 pounds now with the exchange rate.

They should’ve have played a world XI instead of the lame poms.

man, this must have been the best movie i’ve seen in years, KP was brilliant, would have given him an oscar, deserved it just as much as that corky from Rain Man!!!

The Poms are Sulking Dragons!! More focussed on Stanford being gentlemanly to their Wags. You have to respect what Stanford is doing for West Indian cricket though. After years of behing the secenes work at grassroot level, he is finally being noticed.
As for the POms, their short-lived honeymoon surrounding the apointment of KP as captain may be coming to an end.
