A hamstring injury has ruled out winger Sean Lamont for the remainder of Scotland’s year-end Tests.
Lamont pulled sharply against New Zealand after attempting to reel in Richard Kahui. The Scotland medical staff have confirmed scans have shown significant damage to his hamstring and he’ll miss the remainder of the season. Lamont only recently returned from a year-long injury layoff.
There was, however, more encouraging news for his brother Rory, who missed the All Blacks Test through a shoulder injury. He is reported to be likely to slot straight back into the side in Sean’s place.
Meanwhile No 8 Simon Taylor looks to be fighting a losing battle to recover in time for the Test against the Springboks. A calf strain kept him sidelined at Murrayfield on Saturday and while he did some light training yesterday, the Scotland camp are not confident of his availability.
