Butch stars in dramatic Bath win

Springbok and Bath flyhalf Butch James scored a last gasp try to steal victory from Heyneke Meyer’s Leicester Tigers.

The Tigers lead 21-10 with three minutes remaining, but James sent The Rec faithful into raptures with the five pointer and walked off to a standing ovation.

Fellow South African Derick Hougaard’s tactical and goal kicking kept the Tigers in the contest, but it would be James, who had an indifferent performance up to that point, who helped his side cement their place at the top of the Premiership log with a 25-21 victory.

Former Western province hooker Peter Dixon also grabbed a decisive second half try to get Bath’s challenge going.
