1 min – Conrad Jantjes gets the Test underway with a towering kick. Bakkies Botha charges down Mike Blair’s clearance kick and Ruan Pienaar gathers. The Boks take it through the phases in the Scottish 22, but Adi Jacobs is penalised for holding on.
5 mins – The Boks attack in opposition territory but Bryan Habana knocks on a simple pass, his confidence seems to flagging. Big blow for the Boks, Bismarck du Plessis is off with a hamstring injury. John Smit to hooker and Brian Mujati on.
8 mins – The Scots put together their first meaningful attack but the defence is firm from the visitors.
10 mins – The new Bok front-row is struggling and the Scots are putting enormous pressure at scrum-time.
12 mins – Schalk Burger is penalised by referee Dave Pearson for a no-arms tackle. Replacement Dan Parks hooks it badly though.
14 mins – The Boks are getting hammered by the ref as their discipline is repeatedly letting them down – this time for going off their feet at the ruck. Parks again hooks it to the left.
16 mins – The Boks seem undecided on what they want to do, running the ball out of their own half.
19 mins – The visitors receive a penalty for pushing in the lineout, but Pienaar misses a relatively easy chance.
23 mins – The Boks use their forwards to good effect to drive over the advantage line, John Smit especially impressive. They win a 5m scrum, but Pearson again finds fault with the Boks – penalising them for not going down. Another strange decision.
27 mins – Pearson is having a field day in penalising the Boks, but it stems from stupid play from them. Why they are intent on running the ball from their own 22 is mystifying. Phil Godman is back on and he puts the Scots in the lead.
32 mins – The Boks counter from deep and work their way to within 5m of the Scottish line. Another attacking scrum but the Boks again penalised at the breakdown. The frustration is patent, Burger mouthing off at Pearson and the Boks are marched back 10m.
35 mins – The visitors are playing a naive tactical game, this time JP Pietersen tries to run it out of his half and is pinged for holding on.
38 mins – Scotland try, their first in 14 months at Murrayfield. Lock Nathan Hines claims the five-pointer, and Godman adds the extras – crucial blow before the break.
41 mins – The Boks receive the kick-off and immediately try run the ball from their 22, but Habana loses the ball in contact.
42 mins – What a 40m break from Jean de Villiers, but he is tackled out into touch 2m out.
45 mins – The Boks pressure the lineout and win an attacking scrum and force the penalty. Pienaar adds the three points from straight in front.
49 mins – The Boks attack in Scottish territory but again Habana loses the ball in contact again. The 13th error from the Boks.
52 mins – Another mistake from the Boks on the attack, this time Smit knocks on and they have to start all over again. The do start all over again and are awarded a penalty. Pienaar adds the three.
56 mins – Bok try! Habana is off, Jaque Fourie on and he makes an immediate impact as he dives over in the corner – what a lunge.
59 mins – The Boks are penalised for not rolling away, Godman attempts the penalty but he drags it to the left. Andries Bekker is on for Botha.
65 mins – The Boks place more pressure on the Scots, Pienaar gets the chance to extend the lead. It’s over, a great strike from Pienaar.
67 mins -De Villiers is off for Frans Steyn. The Boks counter well but two handling mistakes from Jantjes costs the Boks.
71 mins – The Scots launch an impressive counter from behind their own line and win a penalty after numerous phases of attack. Amazingly, Godman misses one right in front.
74 mins – Burger, Pierre Spies and the Beast off. Danie Rossouw, Ryan Kankowski and Gurthro Steenkamp on. The Scots open up the Boks with ease as they look to steal a win.
77 mins – The Scots are pounding the Bok try-line but great defence and a steal from Steyn earns them a penalty.
