Bath slip, Tigers roar

Northampton rallied from 21-10 to draw 28-all with Butch James’ Bath in an English Premiership match at Franklins Gardens.

James kicked three penalties and two conversions for Bath, who will be deeply disappointed at letting such a substantial lead slip.

Both sides scored three tries, one of which featured former Bulls lock Juandre Kruger linking with Ignacio Fernandez Lobbe.

Bath’s second try came in the 27th minute and the score was 21-10 to Bath at the break, but Northampton, marshalled by former All Black flyhalf Carlos Spencer, fought back to grab a seven point lead in the 61st minute through three converted tries.

Bath levelled in the 76th minute and for all Northampton’s endevour they simply could not break down Bath in the closing stages.

Meanwhile, Heyneke Meyer’s Leicester Tigers kept in touch with log leading Bath through a 27-14 victory over Harlequins. Springbok flyhalf Derick Hougaard scored a try and kicked 12 points in the match.
