England 6 Springboks 42

Keo.co.za brought you live commentary from the Test at Twickenham.

min – Danny Cipriani gets the game underway with a low grubber but Schalk Burger does well to dive on it, but immediately the Boks are penalised at the breakdown. Cipriani adds the three points.

mins – Conrad Jantjes re-starts the game, but the ball goes directly into touch – elementary unforced error. The Boks are penalised at the first scrum.

mins – John Smit does well to force a penalty for holding on at the ruck. Ruan Pienaar strikes it perfectly.

mins – The first Bok scrum disintegrates and Ricky Januarie knocks on. Both front-rows then get a talking to, and at the next set piece the Boks are penalised for the third time. Cipriani misses however,  but the Boks put themselves under pressure. Another mistake from Jantjes as his kick is charged down.

mins – Bok Try! The Boks attack well through Pienaar and Adi Jacobs that results in a 5m scrum. Pienaar breaks again and then Danie Rossouw barges over from 5m, what a powerful run and great lunge through three defenders.

mins – Paul Sackey is having a tough start, dropping balls and then taking a huge hit from the Beast, injuring his leg in the process.

mins – Bok Try! Pienaar charges down a Cipriani up-and-under and canters over from 30m, what a Bok start.

mins – The Poms try to hit straight from a quick tap from a penalty with Delon Armitage only kept out at the corner flag by a motivated Bakkies Botha and JP Pietersen.

mins – The Bok lineout is struggling but they manage to win a penalty with Pienaar attempting a difficult kick into the breeze. What a kick, great effort.

mins – The Poms attack through a number of phases, always attempting the offload, but the Bok defence is solid. Cipriani is being placed under great pressure, but he adds three points from a penalty attempt.

mins – Beast is yellow-carded for going off his feet, and then aggressive ref Nigel Owens marches the Boks back 10m as John Smit asks a question. Ludicrous decision, the offence took place with the Poms on defence in their own 22m. Centre Riki Flutey is off for the Poms, Toby Flood on.

mins – The English are feeling the heat, Tom Palmer limps off and Simon Shaw comes on at lock. Chiliboy Ralepelle comes on for Beast, John Smit to loosehead, Rossouw off.

mins – The Boks are winding down the clock well, keeping the ball in hand. Pienaar has a 60m penalty attempt, but it falls short.

mins – The Boks attack through a number of phases but the momentum is repeatedly lost from poor Ricky Januarie service, while the visitors get turned over at vital times. Beast and Rossouw are back, no damage done.

half-time

mins – Jantjes gets the second half underway but another direct kick, his third basic mistake.

mins – The Boks are still struggling with turnovers, conceding their sixth one. The visitors also continue to use the garryowen well, the shaky English back three are struggling.

mins- The Poms mount a concerted attack on the Bok line, but a number of try-saving tackles, as well as one from Victor Matfield, deny the hosts. That will be a huge psychological blow to the Poms, knowing they won’t easily break this defence.

mins – The defence is solid, but it has been a sloppy second stanza from the Boks, but as I write that what a Bok try! Pietersen cuts the line off the a lineout, Jacobs takes the pass at pace and he runs away from Sackey.

mins – The Poms are trying everything now, South African-born Matt Stevens on for Phil Vickery.

mins – The Boks are penalised for two high tackles, from Jean de Villiers and Rossouw, and the Poms continue to attack the line. The defence is great again, Bryan Habana makes an important hit, as do Botha and Burger.

mins – Rossouw off after a massive game, Ryan Kankowski on. Jaque Fourie on for Jacobs. Another great hit from the Boks, Pietersen typifies the Bok defence with his hit on Ugo Monye, picking him and driving him back.

mins – Fourie’s defence is also inspirational, and he wins the Boks a penalty.

mins – This caps off a miserable day for Jantjes, sin-binned for a late tackle. Another dubious decision however, he stood his ground, which you are allowed to do. Frans Steyn is on at flyhalf for Pienaar, as is Andries Bekker for Botha.

mins – Steyn’s first touch shows his class, a brilliant kick in behind the defence to put pressure on the wobbly English lineout. Brian Mujati is now on for Jannie Du Plessis.

mins – The game is going through a lull, the 81 112 crowd silent, but then Steyn hands off Cipriani and offloads to Habana and then de Villiers, what play. The try is butchered by indecision at the ensuing ruck.

mins – What a moment, Heinrich Brussow wins his Bok debut in place of Spies – a great game from him. Ralepelle back on for Smit. Brussow makes a massive hit as soon as he is on.

mins – Bok Try! What a finish, this shows what this game has been all about. Massive defence, Steyn hoofs it down field and Fourie plucks it out of Sackey’s hands, he stumbles, hands off Armitage, and dives over. What a moment. Steyn adds the conversion, as Pommie spectators leave early.

min – Bok try! Rubbing salt into the wounds, a free-kick is spread down the backs with swift hands and Habana dives over. The Boks then do a lap honour, well deserved under great pressure.
