Scots thrash Canada

Scotland ran in four second half tries as they thumped Canada 41-0 at Murrayfield.

The Scots, buoyed by their gutsy performance against the Springboks, got off to a great start scoring the opening try of the game in the second minute through winger Nikki Walker.

But the home side were unable to shift through the gears as they failed to register a single point for the next 30 minutes when a Phil Godman penalty extended their lead.

With just three minutes left in the half the Scots finally crossed the try line again, this time through outside centre Ben Cairns and Godman slotted the conversion to make it 15-0 at half time.

Scotland came out in the second half looking to make amends for their poor showing in the first and scored just a minute in through flanker John Barclay.

The Scots once again failed to kick on and only scored again in the 56th minute through Alasdair Strokosch while Godman added the extra two to give Scotland a 29-0 lead.

Again Canada frustrated Scotland keeping them at bay until the 70th minute when Walker got his second of the game and just a minute later Rory Lamont crossed the line to make it 41-0 – the way it stayed till the final whistle.
