Toulon rope in Jake
25 Nov 2008
Struggling French club Toulon have acquired the services of Jake White as an adviser.
The World Cup-winning coach will only be with the club from 3-22 December, but president Mourad Boudjellal believes any input can help at this stage. Toulon are currently at 11th in the French domestic competition.
“Even I have my limitations and may still be in certain respects a president of a second division club, who for so long dreamed of gaining promotion,” said Boudjellal. “I want to find out what is not working and that is why I have looked outside the club for an opinion.”
John Connolly was initially brought in to aid Tana Umaga but clashed with the incumbent manager and was quickly removed.

Jake must be savouring this opportunity, returning to the land where he found everlasting glory and fame a mere year ago!
His talent being sought after by some of the wealthiest rugby fraternities in Europe, I can’t even begin to imagine how much money JW must be making, mind-boggling stuff!
As if he didn’t make enough already from his book sales.
Legend…..

Still doesn’t change the fact that this is yet more intellectual property wasted to South Africa unfortunately…
Powers that be most certainly know how to f@ck things up on a grandiose scale when taking advantage of the once strong brains trust RSA had right across the board… with hundreds of thousands of the countries top teachers, professors, doctors, finance guru’s, engineers, CEO’s, MD’s etc etc adding value to other top tier countries…
The result…
Spiralling crime, tertiary education not worth the paper it’s written on, collapsing infrastructure, extrem power problem, a resource sector on the brink of collapse, billions of rands of army-ware lying dormant, Durban harbour now the drug portal of the world etc etc etc etc etc etc…
Banana’s anyone?

#11 Pietman: Howzit Pietman and others. Long time no blog.
Great opp for Jake. Nothing like doing a 2 week assessment, pointing out where the issues are. That’s the easy part. Then they’ll have to deal with job reservations, and bad habits to remove the root cause. Nice addition to his resume though. Probably also means Matfield gave him a good reference.

#12 bryce_in_oz: Sad but true. And let me tell you, it’s the South Africans and Indians here in US that sits till midnight finding solutions to work related issues, great work ethic. That gets rewarded here. And I’m not even including taxes in this topic.

Having just complained – it is what it is. Tough at times but very rewarding personally to be the 1st generation in a new country. We can always tell the story of arriving with 3 suitcases and $3k. For the sake our kids’ future. A good thing. Besides, the planet has become so small who cares where you live, what currency / language – it’s all becoming one to a degree. You pick your nose in Russia the same way you pick it in Mexico.

Morning boys.
Yep, nice to see Saffas all over the globe making their mark and raking in the bucks! Just look how many expats are here on keo, for instance.
I was in Malaysia last week, ‘arrivals’ at the airport crowded with our people of all colours, you here Afrikaans being spoken all over the place..
Here, in my little part of the world, we have CEO’s for KPMG, Nike, Coca Cola, and BP (from the free State town of Welkom!), all South Africans.
I live in a ‘small town’, by these people’s standards, and we have 5 black teachers here from KZN that I know of, and I don’t know how many ‘Capies’.
Lekker, makes me feel right at home every time I see their faces !!!
Saffas are in demand, they don’t mind hard work and they are very sociable and liked by their hosts.
Great to see!
And as Expat says, the world is so small, you can get back home within a day from almost anywhere for a holiday or family matters.
(Btw Expat, when is Thanksgiving, tomorrow?)

Back to the topic – I wonder if Jake can make a difference there? A decent run and one or two more players and they stay up – you never know what might happen next season. Look at how well Bayonne are doing? I see Ross Skeate’s already had his say: http://www.rossskeate.com
The French league for all its detractors at least serves up on a more regular basis than elsewhere evenly contested matches and you know that on any given day anybody could feasibly beat a so-called bigger team.

Hey there guys. I am in Korea and except for what went on on the Park, I did not catch much of whats going on in SA rugby this year.
So I have one question, if anyone will be so kind. What happened with that ***-tape thing? Was he found not-guilty, or merely let loose on a technicality like Puky?

#28 Greenpoint-Gunner: It kind of just died – everybody involved denied any knowledge of its existence, and the communications manager who started the whole thing up and told Snor about it resigned after being targeted by a committee appointed to investigate the matter, and being called to a disciplinary tribunal. Talk about shoot the messenger! The poor guy then then died in a plane accident (no not the same one as Hansie). So now nobody talks about it. It’s just fallen off the face of the earth.

Isn’t it funny how all the staunch PDV lovers/apologists appear to dislike JW (and Eddie Jones) intensely? I wonder why and how they could possibly feel threatened by Jake White? Seems silly.
26 Nov 2008, 09:58 am
I see that Skoptjokvolfokkolll was at it and banned yet again….. hopefully for good this time and hopefully when he re-surfaces under yet another name, the ban will be immediate.
Tulsa should be banned permanently as well with his hate speech….. I’ve just reported his post and I trust that a lot of you have done exactly that as well…

26 Nov 2008, 10:08 am
#70 WP Till I Die: P.S. My view is that you shouldn’t put any coach on a pedestal. Be fair and objective however when considering their performances. After 4 years at the helm, JW deserves credit.
PDV had his highs and lows this year but overall had a relatively successful year.
We mustn’t make who the coach is a sideshow. It all about the Boks’ results, and nothing else.

26 Nov 2008, 10:20 am
#78 grootblousmile: OK, for an IT dummy then, I guess it tells you the source (geographical location) of the user on the other end? ISP address or something like that…
26 Nov 2008, 10:29 am
#79 wooden spoon: Yeah, it re-traces the “route” / “path” that the Muppit has taken from his PC, through his ISP, through the Internet, to the eventual site.
Some interesting stats on what else has been browsed comes up as well….

Just wanted to take the opportunity to thank Jake for his contributions to SA Rugby, especially the Boks performance in 2008.
Jake, without your input none of the success would have been possible.
I wonder if his input will cover off the field matters like the cheerleaders. I’m sure he will make a success of whatever he is asked to do. Knowing him, he will probably use his a lot of his own initiative as well.

“*************” is a term that I think that very few people have absolute certainty about.
But I read a theory in Prof Chris Brink’s “No lesser place” – used to head up Univ Stb. Has to do with the popular practice with keeping ******* as a pet in days gone by.
Now the exact connotation is the challenge. Of course it means idiot but I think also conveys the idea of “just another one” “everyone has one”
I dont think it is used or refers to blacks, but a word that very often pops up when Afrikaans speaking intellectuals debate/ want to insult each other

I dont think it is used or refers to blacks, but a word that very often pops up when Afrikaans speaking intellectuals debate/ want to insult each other

well, i didnt see tulsa’s posts
so
i’d rather not comment on what his intentions may have been
..
that is,
unless he used it to describe the journalists on this site!
26 Nov 2008, 11:30 am
#115 Sheriff: concise and informative sheriff, many thanks.
i will be sure not to use the term around my better halfs family then.
26 Nov 2008, 11:31 am
#116 asha1: there are journalists on this site?
oh ja, Pissant posts from time to time!
26 Nov 2008, 11:36 am

26 Nov 2008, 11:37 am
#118 rangerman:
Also “useful idiot”
26 Nov 2008, 11:42 am
#121 Sheriff:
do you think we’ll come to a point some day where the term “idiot” and “someone working for keo” will have the same meaning?
26 Nov 2008, 11:46 am
#122 asha1:
Fighting the establishment again, rebel!
26 Nov 2008, 11:46 am
#121 Sheriff:
Interesting.
Chris Brink was headboy at Upington High, after prof Hennie Kotze (also US professor) just ahead of our own Boerboel here on keo, followed by Tiaan Strauss later.
26 Nov 2008, 11:48 am
#124 Pietman:
#125 Sheriff:
Probeer ‘n verskeidenheid lees of blootstelling.
26 Nov 2008, 12:02 pm
#127 Pietman:
Ek sê jou mos, jy ken te veel mense
Vertel my van Vloog Theron
26 Nov 2008, 12:04 pm
#124 Pietman:
Is Boerboel ook ‘n professor?
26 Nov 2008, 12:05 pm
#129 grootblousmile:
PS ! Fanjan Pretorius is met my niggie getroud.
26 Nov 2008, 12:09 pm
#131 Sheriff:
Baie doppe daar gedrink!
26 Nov 2008, 12:09 pm
#134 grootblousmile:
Sy naam lui ‘n klok.
Ek sal uitkyk daarvoor.
Maar sê nou eers hoekom jy verbaas is oor my keuse van leesstof.
26 Nov 2008, 12:10 pm
#135 Pietman:
Ossewania Kakebenia, jammer.
26 Nov 2008, 12:11 pm
#132 Sheriff:
Nee, doktor (amper!, siviele ingenieurswese).
26 Nov 2008, 12:14 pm
#135 Pietman:
Waar is Koringberg nou weer?
26 Nov 2008, 12:15 pm
#138 Pietman:
ge-nis?
26 Nov 2008, 12:17 pm
#130 Sheriff: Ek verbeel my maar ek herinner my Prof Pont was op ‘n stadium ‘n dominee of so iets…. indien dit waar is, was ek saam met sy dogter Jeanne Pont op skool… van Std 4 af reg deur tot matriek.
Kyk sy was nou ‘n moooooooi girl, vra vir EEE, hulle was baaaaaie goeie tjommies.
26 Nov 2008, 12:17 pm
#140 grootblousmile:
26 Nov 2008, 12:19 pm
#143 Sheriff: Ek’s netso verbaas jy luister na Radio Pretoorsdorp……… baie insiggewend…
My Pa was baaaie lief vir Radio Pretoria….
26 Nov 2008, 12:19 pm
#142 grootblousmile:
Laas gehoor hy is Kalifornie, Amerikaanse vrou getrou.
26 Nov 2008, 12:21 pm
#144 Pietman:

26 Nov 2008, 12:28 pm
#145 grootblousmile:
Raak wys!
(Cape Cullert equivalent of “get with the prog”)
26 Nov 2008, 12:29 pm

#152 WP Till I Die:
Almal het gedink ek sou gaan boer, my landbouskool toe gestuur selfs.
Gaan lees daar in die bar by Lord Milner, moerse interessant.
26 Nov 2008, 12:39 pm
#154 grootblousmile:
26 Nov 2008, 12:45 pm
#157 Sheriff: Man, ek wou jare lank my Pa laat sit voor ‘n video-kamera en laat gesels oor alles…….. toe nooit daarby uitgekom nie………. dis ‘n skande, want my Pa is mos nou so 3 maande gelede oorlede……….
Ek doen maar dieselfde ding met BonzaiGBS….. wys hom wat my Pa my gewys het…. en so aan.
Dis hoekom ek sê, Fanjan Pretorius se boeke is so goed, want dit gee ‘n baie ewewigtige beskouing van dele van ons Geskiedenis….. gesien uit elke oogpunt !
26 Nov 2008, 12:46 pm
#158 grootblousmile:
26 Nov 2008, 12:57 pm
poor toulon, mb. jake can do something with the forwards, or is he “depasse” now, we’ll get get a glimpse next wednesday, is the game televised?
26 Nov 2008, 12:58 pm
#162 Sheriff:
As jy na PdeV se Afrikaans luister, dan is dit so goed jy **** my broer praat!
26 Nov 2008, 13:02 pm
26 Nov 2008, 13:02 pm
sheriff, grootblousmile, pietman, aseblief, do you mind taking up less cyberspace, met jou kakpraat, dankie.

26 Nov 2008, 13:04 pm
#166 Pietman: Jy het maar self ‘n lekwar Afrikaanse Aksent ou Pieta….. as jy so hier na my toe bel in die oggende vroeg en die dogter antwoord, dan sê sy….. “Dis daai Oom wat so snaaks praat”….. dan weet ek dis Pietman oppie lyn !
26 Nov 2008, 13:05 pm
#168 jean-jacques: Ag, gaan loop skyt innie mielies man !
26 Nov 2008, 13:06 pm
#166 Pietman:
26 Nov 2008, 13:07 pm

My pa vloek nou nog daar oor.
Almal dominees…..

Dit maak keo vir my lekker.
26 Nov 2008, 13:22 pm
#176 Pietman: Het jy in ‘n Sappe-huis grootgeword ??
