Boks tops in Dubai doozie
29 Nov 2008
The Springbok Sevens side edged England 19-12 to win the first leg of the series in Dubai.
A Robert Ebersohn try ensured South Africa went to an early lead and a further score by Mpho Mbioyozo took the advantage to 12-0 at half-time. England had few opportunities and were well marshalled by the Bok defenders.
Tom Biggs hit back straight after the break to give England a sniff. The momentum shifted and when Paul Delport was yellow carded the Boks looked in trouble.
Mickey Young crossed for an English try and the conversion saw the scores tied at 12-12. But Gio Aplon made a late break and was under the crossbar before passing to Ryno Benjamin. Fortunately Benjamin held on and the title was secured.
In the other divisions Samoa beat Kenya 12-7 to win the Plate, while Portugal thumped France 40-0 to win the Bowl. USA took the Shield honours by beating Arabian Gulf 31-7.

Seeing as there are no threads for this afternoon’s International Rugby 15′s games between Ozzie and Wales and All Blacks against the Bleekbene, I’m going to put my predictions here:
Wales could provide an upset…. difficult one to call… OK Ozzies by 5
All Blacks should romp past the Bleekbene….. up until last night I thought that NZ would put up a BIG score, but this morning I’m less sure… OK All Blacks by 33
29 Nov 2008, 11:45 am
Portugal just hammered Wales!
29 Nov 2008, 11:46 am
I would say Wales by 7 and ABs by 30
England will play it tight to keep the score down. They know they can’t win. It looks like the English press are ignoring the fact the game is taking place …. given up after last week

Yes chch, after 25 minutes a Pom prop or lock will drop to his knees feigning injury at every second scrum or lineout. They won’t mind giving away a few penalties either.

I am picking the Dingoes and the Blackness to do it in a bit of a canter tonight. The new Kiwi sevens seem to be very good and the second Fijian team, (England), looks good in patches.

#35 church – like chch but pronounceable:
The Greatwall strikes again!
The All Blacks are not really the All Blacks this year either, but they still seem to be better than anyone else.
I have just been watching an Oz series about the Oz POWs in China during WWII. I had not realised that they were here. The American pilots are held in high esteem for their efforts here.

Who saw SA Fiji 7′s?!
Was great! SA losing 7 – 0 with 20 seconds to go, Fiji scrum. SA, with a much lighter 3, cause havoc, ball spurts out, Mboyosi scores in the corner, 7 – 5.
Stick, the new captain, slots the drop to make it 7- 7. Extra time, Fiji kick off, Aplon clears to Fiji 10. Fiji win line out, but another steal by SA sees the ball swung to Stick. He lines up a drop from 55m and slots it!
SA win 10 – 7 to play England (who beat NZ).
