Leicester lash Perpignan
6 Dec 2008
A 23-point effort by Toby Flood ensured Leicester secured a 38-27 bonus point victory over Perpignan.
The result sees Heyneke Meyer’s team moving to the top of Pool Three. Flood scored the first of four tries with former All Blacks centre Aaron Mauger, Jordan Crane and Matt Smith scoring the rest.
Philip Burger’s Perpignan are yet to welcome Dan Carter to their playing ranks, and are lacking a quality flyhalf with Nicholas Laharrague and Steve Meyer both on the injured list.

Just how **** is Phillip Burger? I mean the word has-been is too knid for this man.
He cannot kick a ball to save his life. He cannot pass a ball to save his life. He cannot even make a line break to save his live and yet he is playing in a so called ‘world class’ competition. I do not care for such has-beens in fact it is good to see them keeping locals from playing rugga.
And still you will find a few uneducated muppits and the odd Keo writer on this site calling for him to be added to the Bok team, lamenting how he lost his place to a quota player – blah blah blah…
As for Heyneke’s illegitimate son Hougie, well the fellow cannot even make the starting XV. But hey he does not mind as long as he is close to daddy all is well.

oh I forgot to mention that Phillip Burger cannot even tackle to save his live, utterly useless he is.

The Stade vs Quinns match was half decent I would say.

#4 RedBull (formerly RedLion): at least he was entertaining. luved his haircut and swallow dive, didnt he cause the bulls a bit of trouble in the past.

Always good to hear of Heyneke Meyer’s success’s with Leicester.Hope they win the whole thing. Then SARU will finally realize it’s great mistake.

#13 Anvil: I’d be surprised if they won it. You’d have to put your money on Toulouse or Munster at this juncture.

Oelshig is the number 1 scrummie in sa i reckon.
7 Dec 2008, 14:41 pm
Burger looked lost, always felt he was a better 7s than 15 player.
7 Dec 2008, 14:46 pm
Meyer’s influence is apparent in Leicester’s scrum ,real Blue Bulls
push over try.

#14 Big Hit: Biggie, was at the game and Mauger was the brains behind Tigers backline, he was calling the shots and instructing Flood. He was also instrumental in Matt Smith’s try.
7 Dec 2008, 17:18 pm
#18 rugby fan: I watched it, thought Flood, Moody and Julian White the prop were the key players. Mauger did ok, he’s been a bit better this year, he was awful last season. It’ll be good to have Moody back for England along with Wilkinson, Simpson-Daniel, Narraway, Tait etc.

In April, the Herald on Sunday revealed that Super 14 audiences had taken a massive hit, with a 25 per cent drop in the average audience in two years.
After nine rounds of Super 14, figures showed that the 23 games played in New Zealand had been watched by a cumulative audience of 4.1 million people. That was an average of 179,000, down from 238,000 at the same point in 2006.
More worrying is that the average this year is down on last year, when 22 leading All Blacks were withdrawn from the series.
At the time, New Zealand Rugby Union professional rugby manager Neil Sorenson said: “We were under no illusions that we had a massive job to bring audiences back after the competition took a kick in the guts last year. The viewing figures are clearly showing us the public are not rapt with the competitions in their current format.”
Looks like the Kiwis don’t like rugby anymore.
7 Dec 2008, 17:25 pm
So much for ELVs improving audiences, they’ve gone down even further. Karma.
7 Dec 2008, 18:44 pm
The kiwi’s don’t even fill the stadium when the blacks are playing. I have no idea why they got awarded the wc. I think they still sour on missing the wc.

#14 Big Hit: Ah strewth BH has the inside running, quick everybody down to the TAB, or your local bookie, put some money on Toulouse or Munster , yeah right, you couldn’t pick your nose BH!!

#20 Big Hit: Shite, you can actually read can you?? I would be more concerned about your Les Miserables as they are now being named, seems as though the pomy press is really putting the boot into MJ and RA!!

#13 Anvil:
HM is right where he fits in, in a 2nd rate competition, with 2nd rate players playing ancient, pre ELV rugby. Now don’t get me wrong I would have liked HM as forwards coach for the Boks but not head coach for the sake of progress and playing a more allrounded game.
7 Dec 2008, 22:40 pm
yep oelshig is highly rated at stade francais, and you could see why this afternoon, when liebenberg slotted in at fly-half the stade really fired, hope snoep-gat wind-gat steyn was watching, there was a lesson for him there.

#26 Shakes: the NH has ELVs, besides they won’t last long anyway, they’ll all be voted out in a few months.
#25 CHAZ: his point is they shouldn’t have been awarded the hosting rights to the World Cup
8 Dec 2008, 07:28 am
#26 Shakes: “sake of progress and playing a more allrounded game.” BOLLOCKS!
You mean like Snors throw all caution to the wind style ? Which gets the Boks LAST in the TN with a winning record of 2 from 6 ? I dont think so.
At least HM would have built on the structures of JW and maintained a respectable win loss ratio for the Boks as he doing with the Tigers.I dont care if the Boks win ugly or play 10 man rugga..as long as they win.
HM is your man for that.
8 Dec 2008, 07:43 am
#29 Anvil: Jake has left SA rugby and so has HM. Get over it now big boy. PDV is coach and will be for a while. Get used to it.
And dont believe the caution to the wind **** you are spewing forth. The media has been tainting PDV in such a negative light that everything he says or does gets ridiculed or lambasted. He never said throw the ball around wildly. He is trying to teach the players to play what is in front of them. So that means that whereas JDV would have in the past crashed all his ball to set up a platform, he now breaks the line willy nilly cause he plays what he sees and not to a pre-ordained bash it up playing style that will never see us regurlarly beat the AB’s.
The bigger problem PDV experienced this year is getting the message across to his players. But when it comes off, it is spectacular to watch. And i suspect to see more of it in the future.
PS: when Heyneke started in England he did quite well. Then the Journos here could not write enough positive adjectives about his great style and success. Where were you or the KEO journos when Heyneke started losing. Nowhere to be found. Just smacks of hidden agendas and ulterior motives to me. Ask Pissant for his opinion on this. And remember he is one of the most respected bloggers in this site.
8 Dec 2008, 07:44 am
PS: I am not very happy about our trinations performance. The coach needs to be lambasted with the players for the **** that happened there.
8 Dec 2008, 09:09 am
#30 moedeloos: You cant dispute that PDV advocated a totally different style of play which was used with disastrous results in the TN.He only gained a bit of face when the Boks beat the the NH sides, which are shite (bar Wales who we were lucky to win against). The same squad of players who won the WC last year, looked clueless under PDV.Why ? PDV tried to fix something that was not broken
I am all for playing what is in front of you and all that and know how to separate facts from sensationalist garbage.Credit to PDV if he has seen the error in his ways though I dont think he has yet and it hope it wont take another capitulation by the boks to drive the point home.ie Dont fix what is’nt broken.
HM’s win loss rate is respectable.Unlike PDV’s.I was right here all along. You only respond to articles that are posted as I am in this case.If you dont like it,you may refrain from responding. It is after all an opinion.

Interesting if you consider that Flood keeps Derick sidelined and he sucked against Ruan in the test…
8 Dec 2008, 10:52 am
#33 King Shark: and against DC. and against Gits.
I guess Derick isn’t world class afterall.
8 Dec 2008, 11:00 am
#33 King Shark: Hougaard just keeps kicking, I swear its a big shock when he actually passes the ball to a teammate instead of kicking to him
8 Dec 2008, 16:31 pm
Hougaard was injured, again, for this match. Hamstring, or something. He is getting to be like ‘sick-note’ Pretorius at the Lions. Only a player on paper and past reputation. He started that earlier this year at the Bulls and seems to be hell bent on continuing on that road.
#30 moedeloos: I also asked where the articles on HM were when he lost, but I got lambasted for having alteriour motives, while, in fact, I am a big supporter of HM.
Have your say
