Dunning down but not out
7 Dec 2008
Matt Dunning has been ruled out of the 2009 Super 14 but hopes to return for Australia in the Tri-Nations.
The front-ranker injured his Achilles in the Wallabies’ recent beating of the Barbarians at Wembley. The snapped tendon could sideline Dunning for up to nine months, but the 29-year-old is adamant this is not the end of his career.
“I’m pretty confident of coming back. There’s no doubt it’s probably going to be a long road back but I’ll speak to my specialist today and probably look to get operated on early in the week.
“They say six to nine months, these things, but I’m a fast healer, maybe four to six.”
Prop Sekope Kepu was also injured in the win but is expected back ahead of the Waratahs’ Super 14 campaign.

Dunning’s a stupid dragon if he thinks he’ll be ready in 4-6 months. Having done it myself (and been forced retire) i would say 10 -12 weeks before the cast/boot comes completely off and then there’s gradual scare tissue physio and them strength build up. He is as dumb as they say. Perhaps he should have a chat with Somerville (re tore his trying to come back too early!)

Amongst all the critisism and injuries this guys attitude is really great! Look forward to see you playing the boks in the tri – nations. Bok supporters usually mock you before a test, but there is usually no mocking after the game. Underrated prop – forward.

#8 Carel: I look forward to seeing him play as well. Keeps the Aussie scrum weak.

An article on the infamous Jelly Teddy. You buggers at Keo must really be strapped for news. In an age where props are becoming leaner, more mobile, more versaitile and more pertinent .. he continues to fight the norm. Well done Matt you go you good thing!

ugly too

He’s given a lot of stick but think of how many times our over-rated forwards have been silenced by him and his “****” colleagues with aus consistantly finishing ahead of us on the tri nations table.

Agreed, his team won 2 out off the 3 games played this year, so he can’t be as “****” and “overrated” as people think.

Imagine how fat he’s going to be after sitting on his arse for 6 months…

I have a snapped achillies as we speak. In plaster until Friday and then into the boot for 8 weeks.
He has a looooooooooong way to go before he even thinks about rugby.

#16 Cape Shark: Good luck mate – it’s a long road but the silver lining is that it will be stronger than it ever was if you let it heel properly.
8 Dec 2008, 13:57 pm
How many pies do you think he’ll manage during his time off?

Shame leave poor old Donut Dunning alone!
We want him back … so that the BEAST can scrum him off the park again!
Was a cr*p loose head and is an even worse tight head.
Have your say
