Icy weather plagues Premiership

The long-anticipated showdown between Bath’s Butch James and Wasps’ Danny Cipriani will have to wait as this fixture as well as several others were cancelled or postponed due to a frozen pitch.

The Friday match between Worcester Warriors and Harlequins was also called off, and this is the second consecutive weekend the Warriors have failed to take the field after the game against Sale was scrapped.

The Sharks tasted victory on Friday night when they downed London Irish 14-8. Across the ditch, Toulouse set a new record for consecutive for wins in the Top 14 when they beat Dax 25-9. Jean-Baptiste Ellisalde and Freddie Michalak were prominent as the French champs swept to their 11th straight win in the domestic competition.

There have been a couple in where serious injury have occurred,as a result of games being played on unfit pitched. There have been cases where referees being taken to court and sued for compensation by injured players.
Referee, are now instructed to take no chances. If the pitch is unfit for play, scratch the fixture.
