Bath set up Leicester clash
25 Jan 2009
Bath will face Leicester in the knock-out stages of the Heineken Cup after they were held to a 3-3 draw by Toulouse.
In torrid conditions at the Recreation Ground the game boiled down to a scrappy affair with neither side able to stamp their authority on the game in the poring rain. Both teams go through to the quarter-finals despite the stalemate.
The result means Bath will now face a trip to Leicester in the quarter-finals while Toulouse have the toughest draw as they face the unbeaten Cardiff Blues.
Earlier in the day Leinster became the second Irish outfit to secure a spot in the knock-out stages of the Heineken Cup with a 12-3 victory over Edinburgh in Dublin.
In a tense affair it was the boot of Felipe Contepomi that was the difference as he slotted four penalties to hand the Irish side the win, while in the other game in pool two Wasps crashed out of the competition as the were downed 21-15 by Castres in France.
In the only remaining game in pool one, Munster guaranteed themselves a home quarter-final against the Ospreys with a convincing 13-37 win over Montauban.
Quarter-finals:
Munster vs Ospreys
Harlequins vs Leinster
Leicester vs Bath
Cardiff Blues vs Toulouse

Half this Leinster team are from the SH how can they call themselves Irish! Watched the game, don’t know what was worse, the rugby, the referee or the weather! But they were all shite! Long live the S14!

#4 carol: No not at all. Usually enjoy watching some of the play but this game was a waste of 80 mins of my weekend. These NH teams are trying to play modern rugby with no fundamentals in place. The runners are static, the ball is slow and they lack fluidity.
And then the refs just piss me off! Think Chris White blew this game and made up his own rules as the game went on!
