Neck injury strikes Latham down
31 Jan 2009
Worcester full-back Chris Latham was taken to hospital after sustaining what looked like a serious neck injury.
Latham temporarily lost feeling in his arms and legs, but it later returned.
“Chris Latham is down the hospital at present,” said Worcester director of rugby Mike Ruddock. “He is to undergo scans, because it appears to be a neck ligament problem. He is conscious, and the medical team are reasonably confident he will be okay.”
Worcester struggled in Latham’s absence, losing 37-20, and Ruddock conceded that it was a massive blow to their momentum.
“It was a great start by us, and we were looking good. But once we lost Latham, they pinned us back and realised we would struggle with our kicking game,” the former Wales coach added.

Nudge, nudge Latham…it’s time to retire. You’ve had a good innings. Too many injuries, too many touch and go’s. Let go and move on. Make bucks doing something else. You are warned.
