Sharks get Bismarck boost

Bismarck du Plessis is set to return to action after a lengthy injury lay-off when the Sharks face the Bulls in Durban.

Du Plessis injured his knee on the Springboks’ year-end tour and underwent an operation on his return to South Africa. He is one of a number of Springboks to be given a run in the Sharks’ final pre-season friendly prior to the start of their Super 14 campaign.

Sharks coach John Plumtree told keo.co.za that they didn’t expect the Bulls to send a full strength side to Kings Park, but that this wouldn’t affect their preparation.

The Sharks negotiated the challenge of a combined Sharks XV side 49-5 on Friday, with many of their Springboks getting a extended hit-out. JP Pietersen, Stefan Terblanche, Ruan Pienaar, Odwa Ndungane (2), Keegan Daniel and Ryan Kankowski all crossed the chalk.
