Kenya shock Bok Sevens
6 Feb 2009
Kenya came from behind to beat South Africa 22-17 and take top spot in Pool A.
The win is Kenya’s first against South Africa having failed on 18 previous occasions.
Paul Treu’s men led 17-5 at half time, but Kenya came out firing in the second half scoring three unanswered tries to snatch the win.
South Africa’s first defeat of the series means they will now face hosts New Zealand in the quarter-finals, after the Kiwis beat Australia 26-19 in their final pool game to claim top spot, while Kenya will face Wales in their quarter-final.
In group D, Fiji leapfrogged the USA into top spot with a 19-5 win over Samoa, setting up a quarter-final clash against England. USA will play Argentina in the other Cup play-off.
Cup Quarter-Finals:

Made one by 5 litre Cider and ditto white wine last weekend. Started a red today. Still another couple of weeks ’till I can imbibe. But will have a small ‘snifter’ come next Saturday fer sure!
‘A little bit of vino helps the sand go down, sand go down, sand go down, just a littel bit …’

#595 yliad: Kenya aren’t bad, they beat us earlier in the year and we beat NZ in the same tournament.

Hmm, maybe more open thatn the pundits predict. Sharks should be there but are prone to self imploding. Bulls always worth a shout – have the talent but maybe not the coach. Stormers might not live up to the hype and Lions and Cheetahs are dark horses that could surprise.
