DHS ready to conquer

A monumental task awaits Durban High School coach Ray van Noordwyk in 2009 to help DHS re-establish themselves as a top schoolboy rugby institution.Van Schalkwyk will not be alone in his endeavours to conquer the KZN schools league this year, he will be assisted by former University of JHB and Gauteng schools coach, Eugene Rooiackers and incumbent KZN schools U16 coach, Graham Furber. Van Schalkwyk will have four Craven Week players at his disposal this year which should help the DHS side rocket up the rankings.

Last season DHS pushed rivals and Classic Clash opponents Glenwood all the way before losing 12-6. However, they did manage to thrash Maritzburg College at home under their new world-class floodlit ground. DHS is at the forefront of developing talented youngsters, and two new acquisitions from the Griffions U16 Grant Khomo Week in the form of a tighthead prop and an outside back will undoubtedly also strengthen the side in 2009. All the signs indicate that this year should see DHS a recognisable force in schoolboy rugby once again.

4 Craven Week players (which you had to go and buy) – WOW that is alot. “DHS is at the forefront of developing talented youngsters” – Ummmm… It doesn’t count if you go and raid other provinces or take kids that were expelled from other schools. 1 word: DESPERATION!!! Unfortunately for the Horseflies, Glenwood has 2 Craven Week players, 5 Academy team members & 12 Grant Khomo (KZN u16) players to choose from. So good luck DHS you’ll need it!

#3 Brendope: Clearly you were at school quite a while ago: Glenwood have had a 90% plus record across the board over DHS for the last 5 or 6 years! The Green Machine has won the last 7 1st XV encounters. We can field up to 30 teams per Saturday – DHS only 15 or 16 with only 2 u16 teams!!! I realise that you are the best basketball school in Africa however who gives a stuff it’s about rugby, rugby, rugby and that will never change. The sad truth is that schools are judged by their rugby results because that’s what the media focuses on. I do hope that Ray sorts it out and makes the Durban Derby worth watching again…

#5 wazz: You were right but they don’t even have 6th, 7th or 8th teams anymore. I know from personal experience – you look forward to giving them a wack and they say sorry we don’t have a team for you!!!!

Last time DHS beat Glenwood was in 2006, 28 – 21, and in 2007 what happened to Glenwood against Grey Bloem ? A bloody smack, over 80 points, DHS had the best result against Bloem out of any team that year.

Seeme like we can also play other sports: Glenwood 1st XI batting first 211 for 5. DHS (The school that has produced the most SA cricketers) 112 for 8. Glenwood win by 99 runs!

Green machine u are very hillarious..u say that DHS buys players , but it is very interesting to me that most of your 1st team and almost ur whole u16A team are players that have only started at glenwood this year. And another thing is that your big green machine boys might be big and strong however 90% of ur players are on steroids which if u dont know is illegal in school boy rugby.
DHS might not have the best track record with our rugby stats however all our players have heart and are clean of any type of illegal substanances.
and the only reason why u are commenting on this page is because you big so called green machines are scared of my boys who are gonna give u the wake up of your life..
