Klofies host first festival
6 Mar 2009
Hoerskool Waterkloof will host an international Easter festival for the first time this year.
The festival will feature schools from Argentina and New Zealand, with Klofies scheduled to play Paarl Gym, SA’s No 1 ranked school in 2008, as well as Rotorua Boys’ High (a school that produced All Blacks wing Caleb Ralph).
Klofies are hoping to replicate the success that saw them win the Beeld Trophy and Nu Power titles in 2008. Former SA Schools chairman Dr Christo Bekker has worked hard to ensure that Waterkloof is a strong rugby institution. Henry Verster and Jan Mollentze will once again be in charge of the 1st XV with Bart Schoeman the director of rugby.
Waterkloof’s Classic Clash for 2009 will be against Garsfontein, while they will also play against Pretoria rivals Affies.
A top-five SA schools ranking is a real possibility for Kloofies in 2009 and with 11 players available from last year’s 1st XV that goal is very achievable.
