Wikus scores but Saracens fall

Springbok flank Wikus van Heerden scored but couldn’t do anything to help Saracens avoid a 21-15 defeat to Harlequins.

The loss almost certainly ends their hopes of making the Premiership play-offs. Nick Evans and Glen Jackson traded penalties before Van Heerden powered over from close range.

But despite rallying well after trailing for most of the second half, Saracens, who have been embroiled in a saga regarding the axing of 17 players at the end of the season, couldn’t breach a well organised defence.

In other matches Springbok flyhalf Butch James kicked six conversions in his side’s 45-8 victory over Bristol.
