Plenty of Tigers in the Western Cape – The Paarl ‘Young Peoples’ are Tigers. Tygerberg and UCT (both tigers) even used to play for the Tiger Cup in their league fixture.

UCT have been tigers for a long time. “Once an Ikey – always a Tiger” has been around for years and their have striped jerseys gave them the name. (I guess Zebras wouldnt have impressed anyone)

I do concede though, that just “Tigers” isn’t quite right. They have started re-branding themselves quite nicely – check their website.

Call them Ikey Tigers and everyone knows.

#3 TheTackler: No tigers in CT especially! Must say, I only recently heard of this 'tiger' nick, and I have attended many intervarsities with the Ikeys playing, as well as GCC matches in the Cape, never heard anyone shouting 'tigers'...
