Can DHS break Kearsney hoodoo?
17 Mar 2009
Durban High School hope to end a nine-year drought at Kearsney when the two teams meet on Saturday.
While DHS won last year’s match between the sides 27-13 at home and last lost to Kearsney in 2006, they have not won away against their KwaZulu-Natal rivals since 2000.
DHS head coach Ray van Noordwyk has mixed feelings about his side’s build-up to the game.
‘I’m relatively happy with the way things have gone, but am a bit worried about the lack of game time the 1st XV have had,’ he told keo.co.za. ‘This is because of cricket commitments the players had.’
Things have gone far better for Kearsney, who thrashed Voortrekker last weekend. They will be desperate to beat DHS with Kearsney’s Easter Festival taking place in April.
Weather conditions are fine and clear which should help to produce an attractive and entertaining game.
Kickoff is at 3:30pm.
