The Lions have suspended forwards coach Leon Boshoff with immediate effect.
The union will undertake an investigation into Boshoff’s actions after it was alleged he had verbally abused some of the players in the wake of their humiliating 56-18 loss to the Stormers.
“Allegations have been made against Leon, but until our investigations are complete, we cannot comment further,” Lions CEO Manie Reyneke said in a statement.
It is believed captain Baywatch Grobbelaar and his deputy Jaque Fourie will meet with Reyneke on Tuesday afternoon.
No replacement for Boshoff will be made until the investigation is complete.
This could either break the team dynamic down further or conversely it could have a unifying effect on the squad as they prepare for the Brumbies’ clash on Saturday.
The way the Lions have responded to pressure this season it is likely to be the former.
