Mitchell makes wholesale changes

John Mitchell has made a number of changes to the Force’s starting XV for Saturday’s Super 14 clash with the Sharks in Perth.

Wingers Cameron Shepherd (ankle) and Nick Cummins (hamstring) have been ruled out after picking up injuries during last week’s 23-all draw with the Crusaders, while forwards David Pusey and Richard Stanford have been dropped to the bench.

Drew Mitchell, who played the last three games at fullback, reverts back to his customary role on the left wing, with 18-year-old James O’Connor named in the No.15 jersey.

O’Connor’s move to fullback paves the way for Junior Pelesasa to return at inside centre, with Scott Staniforth named on the right wing.

Lock Tom Hockings makes his return to the starting line up to partner skipper Nathan Sharpe in the second row, while Matt Hodgson returns at No.6

The Force will wear pink jerseys against the Sharks to raise awareness and funds for the Breast Cancer Foundation of WA.

Force – James O’Connor, Scott Staniforth, Ryan Cross, Junior Palesasa, Drew Mitchell, Matt Giteau, Josh Valentine, Tamaiti Horua, David Pocock, Matt Hodgson, Nathan Sharpe (c), Tom Hockings, Ben Castle, Tai McIsaac, Pek Cowan.
Subs – Luke Holmes, AJ Whalley, David Pusey, Richard Stanford, Chris O’Young, Josh Tatupu, Haig Sare.
