Reds seek Sanzar explanation

The Reds have invited a Sanzar judiciary officer to training to explain to the squad what they can and can’t do.

The Reds are still steaming after scrumhalf Will Genia was suspended for four weeks for a dangerous tackle in last weekend’s match against the Sharks, but have decided not to appeal.

Instead, in an official statement, the Reds announced they would formally request Sanzar ‘reviews the consistency of sentencing across the competition’.

The Reds will also invite the Sanzar judicial officer who presided over Genia’s hearing to speak to the playing squad to explain the reigning interpretations on the range of penalties that will apply to different offences.

This thread will be updated throughout the day.
