SA Rugby have signed a four-year deal with kit supplier Canterbury.
The Springboks have been sponsored by Canterbury since 2004 but in late January the local franchise applied for voluntary liquidation.
The new deal sees Canterbury of New Zealand signing with SA Rugby until 2013 and they will take over the responsibilities of the liquidated local franchise.
‘The problems of the South African license holder have very definitely had a silver lining as we’ve forged an excellent relationship and struck a further four-year deal with the international holding company,’ said Andy Marinos, acting MD of SA Rugby.
‘The problems concentrated all our minds and we have come to a new arrangement that will benefit all parties,’ he said.
The new Bok jersey, with the King Protea on the left hand side is currently being designed by Canterbury and will be launched in May.
The brand will also now be official kit partners to the Sharks.
