Saru has reversed its initial decision to cancel a match between a South Africa XV and the New Zealand Maori this May.
The fixture was initially bulleted due to Saru’s ruling that the Kiwi side was selected along racial lines. However, on Thursday, the President’s Council decided the match will go ahead as the Springboks prepare for the British & Irish Lions series.
‘The instruction came after Council accepted a recommendation from the management committee (Manco) that the South African Rugby Union should accept matches against any teams sanctioned by the national governing body of that team,’ a Saru statement said.
A possible date and venue are yet to be finalised.
