Dale out to spoil hosts’ party
27 Mar 2009
Graeme College face Dale in the main game of the Graeme schools festival on Saturday afternoon.
Brendan Grant, coach of Graeme College, is ‘satisfied’ with his team’s build-up, having beaten Despatch High School 43-17 last weekend. Dale, on the other hand, go into the game brimming with confidence, having decimated Hangklip 41-0. Dale have always had the ethos of keeping the ball in hand and Saturday should be no different.
For both sides, however, the game will depend on the set phases. Graeme will attempt to keep the game tight while Dale will pounce on any of their opponent’s mistakes and spread the ball wide. Graeme has a settled tight five as well as exuberant backs.
The loose-forward battle should be a fascinating match-up with Luba Balo, Dale’s stand-out player last season, up against Chad Banfield who has impressed with his physical presence for the ‘Peasants’.
The last time the two schools played in 2007, Graeme won 19-10. Both sides go into the game with no injuries.
