Mike Stofile returned unopposed as one of two independent directors to the board of SA Rugby at the AGM on Friday.
The SA Rugby constitution requires that at least one of the non-executive directors be black and Stofile faced no competition for the role.
The former SA Rugby deputy president has not been involved in rugby since his failed bid for the presidency in 2008. However, it is widely believed he still holds ambitions for the role.
Jan Marais of the Griffons was elected as the other director ahead of current chairman of the board, Keith Parkinson of the Sharks.
A new chairman will be elected in May and the elected candidate will sit in on President’s Council meetings.
