Leicester leave it late
11 Apr 2009
Leicester scrumhalf Julien Dupuy scored a last minute try as they beat Bath 20-15 to reach the semis of the European Cup.
Bath led 7-6 at the break and the lead exchanged hands four times, but the visitors couldn’t steal a win at Welford Road. The replacement No 9 dummied from the base of a ruck and broke to ensure they stole a famous win and meet the Cardiff Blues in the semi-finals.
Butch James had an average time with the boot, where he missed numerous kicks at goal.

Biggy
I watched this match and it was only 4% better than the first QF match in terms of overall quality and entertainment.
I do not know how you do it but now I know now why the Poms are such a depressed people, all this time I thought it was the weather but how wrong I was. Anyway I have decided to skip all other Heineken matches until the final comes around.

Actually Butch only missed two kicks at goal and kicked another two (2 from 4). Good win for Tigers.

#2 RedLion: that was an exciting match RL, I’m not sure how much more you could’ve wanted. 3 tries and plenty of running rugby with a great finish!

#4 Big Hit: the second half was good and the finish great … when the kicker takes aim the crowd is quiet, no boooing … but that match was played at half pace in comparison to Super rugby. The players look unfit, slow and skilless, the best player I saw yesterday was powell.

#5 RedLion: Powell is unlikely to be on the Lions tour. I agree Super rugby is played at a faster pace but that can get repetitive too. You need time to digest what you’re seeing and structure to make sense of it.

#7 cane: no but if everything happens at 100 miles per hour you don’t get a chance to enjoy it. Ask the kiwi crowds, they’re disappearing by the dozen.
Have your say
