Saru nurture raw talent

Saru has named a 44-man U19 High Performance squad as part of the development towards the annual IRB Junior Championship.

Herman Masimla, Manager of High Performance at Saru, said the national selectors will choose 30 players from this squad, as well as players identified during the U19 Absa Currie Cup and Coca Cola Youth Week tournaments, for a tour to France towards the end of the year.

“The High Performance Squad is an important part of Saru’s programme to ensure that we give our SA U20 team to the Junior World Championship, a competitive advantage through early identification and comprehensive High Performance assistance,” said Masimla.

Last month the U19 High Performance Squad won its two matches against the French U19 Training Squad at Saldanha and Velddrif.
