Daredevils ease past Kings XI

The Delhi Daredevils got their IPL campaign off to the perfect start with a 10-wicket victory over the Kings XI Punjab in Newlands.

The match was initially reduced to 12 overs a side after a wet outfield delayed the start of play in Cape Town. The Kings XI looked set to post a score around 130 having got off to a flying start thanks mainly to a quick-fire 38 from Karan Goel.

But some excellent bowling from Daniel Vettori kept the score down to just 104-7 as the New Zealand skipper finished with figures of 3-15 off his three overs.

Virender Sehwag got his side off to a blistering start before rain again brought a halt to proceedings. When play resumed the Daredevils were left needing just 54 for victory under the Duckworth-Lewis method, which they accomplished with ease thanks to Sehwag’s unbeaten 38.
