Waugh sticks with Tahs

Waratahs captain Phil Waugh has signed with the franchise as well as Australia until after the 2011 World Cup.

Waugh had numerous offers from European clubs but said the future was bright for both the Tahs and his country.

‘I am very positive about the direction in which both the Waratahs and Wallabies are heading, and it is a strong goal of mine to be an integral part of this development,’ said Waugh.

Cooper gets another chance

Reds flyhalf Quade Cooper will get another chance to prove his worth against the Blues in Albany.

Cooper was expected to get the axe for some inconsistent performances but coach Phil Mooney resisted.

The only changes sees wing Luke Morahan coming in for injured Peter Hynes, while Poutasi Luafutu replaces Daniel Braid as opensider. Braid’s Achilles ailment means he has played his last game for the Reds.

At lock Van Humphries replaces Adam Byrnes.
