Shadab Jakati’s four wickets spurred his team on to a 18-run win for the Chennai Super Kings over the Daredevils at the Wanderers.
Jakati claimed the crucial scalps of David Warner, Tillekeratne Dilshan, Dinesh Karthik and Pradeep Sangwan with his left arm-spinners. Warner and Karthik put on a partnership of 74 in chase of a modest target of 164, but Jakati did the job as Delhi lost five wickets for eight runs at the end of the innings.
It was a belter of a Wanderers pitch, but the bowling and fielding from Chennai was superb.
S Badrinath (45) steered his team to 163 all out in their 20 overs, as Australian fast bowler Dirk Nannes and Ashish Nehra claimed three apiece. But the Super Kings would have thought they were at least 20 runs short of a winning total, but Jakati’s efforts earned his team a second successive win as last year’s losing finalists move up the table.
Chennai Super Kings163 all out in 20 overs (S Badrinath 45, Dirk Nannes 3-27, Ashish Nehra 3-27)
Delhi Daredevils145-8 in 20 overs (Dinesh Karthik 52, Shadab Jakati 4-24)
