Bangalore belt Mumbai

The Royal Challengers cruised to a nine-wicket win over the Indians thanks to half centuries from Jacques Kallis and Robin Uthappa at  the Wanderers.

Bangalore were dominant in all areas as they cantered home with 11 balls to spare in chase of 150.

The Challengers raced to 51-1 after five overs with Kallis exhibiting his wide array of strokes, but then he and Uthappa slowed down to 74-1 after 10. Kallis and Uthappa steered their team home with an unbeaten partnership of 126, that also included a 130m six from Uthappa off Dwayne Bravo.

Dillon du Preez did the job with the ball as he had a dream start to his IPL career when he claimed three wickets in his opening nine balls that included the scalps of Sachin Tendulkar, JP Duminy, and Ajinkya Rahane.

Sanath Jayasuriya (52) and Bravo (50*) resurrected the innings with their 60-run partnership but 149-4 was never enough on a flat Wanderers pitch and fast outfield.

Mumbai Indians 149-4 in 20 overs (Sanath Jayasuriya 52, Dillon Du Preez 3-32)
Royal Challengers Bangalore 150-1 in 18.1 overs (Jacques Kallis 69*, Robin Uthappa 66*)
