Tigers tops in thriller

Tigers tops in thriller

Leicester Tigers beat Cardiff Blues 7-6 in a dramatic penalty shoot-out after the semi ended 26-all at the Millennium Stadium.

Leicester led 26-12 after 75 minutes but two late scores sent the match into extra time, and after a scoreless added 20 minutes, the match went to an historic penalty shoot-out.

Blues flanker Martyn Williams was the last player to miss, as Leicester No 8 Jordan Crane slotted the final kick. It was an emotional end to the game as Williams was consoled by non-playing Leicester captain Martin Corry after he missed.

The Tigers will now face Leinster in the surprise final of the European Cup, after Munster were knocked out yesterday. The defending champs hold seven Lions players, while Cardiff have six versus just the solitary individual (Harry Ellis) of Leicester.

Was an unbelievable game. Crappy way to end it, agreed, but an unbelievable game nonetheless. Shows waht happens when the SH ELV’s are out of the picture

I Watched both this and the Munster – Leinster game. Both games were of such a higher quality than anything the super 14 or the ELV’s have dished up….bring back the old rules.

Not the right way to decide a game, but I guess they gotta do something?? For a non kicking flanker to have to slot the place kick to see the team through just seems a bit wrong.

Amazing amazing game. Both those teams would give our Super 14 teams a tough time.

The ending was brilliant, if not the best way to decide a game (I would play sudden death rugby until one team scores any form of points).

The worst way to decide the outcome of a rugby match ever. Bloody disgrace if you ask me.

I agree with the sudden death option. Last man standing kind of deal.

Even go with the team with the least yellow cards if all’s square after counting tries etc.

Anything will be better than what happenned on Sunday.
