Abdulla gives Punjab edge

The IPL’s top wicket taker Yusuf Abdulla returns to his home ground of Kingsmead in Tuesday when the Kings XI Punjab face the Rajasthan Royals.

Left-arm seamer Abdulla has taken 14 wickets in seven matches, earning him both praise from fellow fellow left-armer Irfan Pathan and the Purple Cap which is worn by the tournaments leading wicket-taker.

The first time the Kings XI Punjab met the Rajasthan Royals, at Newlands on 26 April, the Kings XI Punjab cruised to a 27-run win after the Royals’ top-order collapsed.

Abdulla and Pathan both took two wickets in a single over to put the Royals under pressure early on.

In their last match Punjab sneaked home off the final ball of the match against the Kolkata Knight Riders, and skipper Yuvraj Singh will want his side to sharpen up in all departments.

The victory put Kings XI Punjab in second spot, will count themselves lucky after Kolkata put down five chances, and slips, like Pathan going for 21 in the final over of the innings, need to be avoided if they hope to maintain their winning run.
