Alan Solomons will coach the Southern Kings ahead of their date with the Lions on 16 June.
According to The EP Herald, EP president Cheeky Watson said Solomons could be appointed as director of East Cape rugby and assist in an advisory capacity as to who would take up the post of senior coach during the Currie Cup season.
Current coach Chris Grobler and assistant coach Ronnie Korkie are set to be relieved of their duties.
But while the Kings look to have that problem sorted, there are still the allegations of fraud against employees of the Eastern Province union.
The police anti-corruption unit – formerly known as the Scorpions – have been called in to investigate.
EPRU chief executive Anele Pamba said that last week they discovered that some money had gone missing from sponsors and had been deposited into some employees‘ personal accounts.
‘The investigation has already started and certain employees were interviewed by the anti-corruption unit on Thursday and on Friday.
‘We are treating this very seriously because we want to clean the slate of EP rugby,’ Pamba said.
The chief executive also said the union would be monitoring how money is spent on rugby development very closely. Tracker devices have been installed on employees’ cars to ‘keep them on their toes’.
‘By using these tracking devices we will know where our employees are at any given time. We will also know if they are using our development vehicles for work purposes or for personal use. Rugby money cannot be used for employees to visit their friends in our vehicles.
‘Our aim is to have a clean administration and we plan to act strongly against any individual who enriches himself or herself at the expense of the union,’ Pamba said.
There is also the problem with ticket sales for the British & Irish Lions clash, as despite the EP Rugby Union announcing that tickets would be on sale on Tuesday, they were still not available from Computicket by late afternoon.
A Computicket official said there was still a problem with the seating plans. It was now hoped that tickets would go on sale on Wednesday.
