Chiefs lose Leonard
17 May 2009
All Blacks and Chiefs scrumhalf Brendon Leonard has been ruled out of the semi-final against the Hurricanes due to a torn hamstring.
The injury rules him out of a potential final too, and reports from New Zealand suggest he could miss the All Blacks’ June Tests. Leonard has had a nightmare run with injury, missing several rounds of the 2009 Super 14 due to a sternum injury and also missed the All Blacks’ entire 2008 Test season. He hasn’t played for the national team since the 2007 World Cup quarter final against France.
The Chiefs have also lost prop Ben May for the play-offs. May went down with a knee injury in Saturday’s battle with the Brumbies. Coach Ian Foster will hope players like Richard Kahui will return from injury to give the team a much needed boost.

The all blacks won’t miss him much, he wouldn’t even make club rugby grade.
Have your say
