Coetzee answers Namibian XV SOS

Former Springbok Danie Coetzee is one of five men brought into the Namibian XV side following the withdrawal of provincial players.

Keo.co.za reported on Thursday that Free State coach Naka Drotske would not release his players for the Namibian XV vs South Africa XV match on 30 May. The Sharks and Western Province have followed suit, and so Coetzee, as well as four Blue Bulls players, will now slot in.

Marco Wentzel, John Mametsa, JP Joubert and Dries van Schalkwyk are the other players set to face the Boks in Windhoek.

Namibian XV - 15 Jaco van der Westhuizen, 14 Llewelyn Winckler, 13 Frikkie Welsh, 12 Wayne Julies, 11 John Mametsa, 10 Derick Hougaard, 9 JP Joubert, 8 Dries van Schalkwyk, 7 Jacques Nieuwenhuis, 6 Jacques Burger, 5 Nico Esterhuizen, 4 Marco Wentzel, 3 Ruan Vermeulen, 2 Danie Coetzee, 1 Kees Lensing (c).
Subs: 16 Hugo Horn, 17 Johnny Redelinghuys, 18 Fudge Mabeta, 19 AN Other, 20 AN Other, 21 Jurie van Tonder, 22 Chrisander Botha.

I see absolutely no reason why a Bok coach would want to play this game.
There is nothing to be learnt or gained from this game.
It only risks injury to key players needed for the tests against the Lions.
It is madness to play this game.

snor should have just organised a trial match against emerging boks and be done with it – would have served both the purpose of a practice game and a chance to look at fringe players.

not much point in playing a namib team with no namibians

they should have played a good second string side from Australasia…NZ Maori, too bad they stuffed that up. Would have been perfect to give some new players a good look.

wont matter anyways, the team that plays next saturday wont look anything like the first test XV.

#2 klippies101: …because they aren’t going to be playing for Namibia. They are going to play for the Namibia XV; an invitational team.

    ;-)

Die Bulle se A span speel in Pretoria, die B-span in Windhoek

Die doel van hierdie wedstryd is Namibie finansieel te help

What a kak team? What happened to Kockott at 9?! Jasus man Rory is quite an english name -I bet you he has some english in his family…this time next year we might see Kockett staring for England at scrum-half and then we’re fcked! The Poms will find some lame excuse to get him in the team or maybe even the Kiwis would take him…most rugby nations would kill to have that level of talent at their disposal yet Kockott is cast-off while a fat out of form scrum-half takes his place due to politics and reputation?! Makes me want to puke like Luke!
