Top 20 rankings (27 May)

Grey College are deservedly top of the pile in keo.co.za’s Schoolboy Derby rankings.

Breathing down the Bloem boys’ necks are Paul Roos, who recorded a 20-13 victory over a depleted Grey High last Saturday, and KES, who thumped Hilton College 34-15.

Monument are at No 8 after a 43-35 win over Affies, with Queen’s at No 15 following their 30-22 victory over Hudson Park. Wynberg, who claimed a gutsy 21-17 win over Bishops, are three places back.

This season’s surprise packages, Marlow Agricultural, beat Diamantveld last weekend and are ranked sixth. Paarl Gym, at No 13, got back to winning ways when they beat a lackluster SACS 31-0, while Westville have snuck into the top 20 after a dour 3-0 win over rivals Maritzburg College.

As a Paul Roos Oldboy, I would just like to make a correction. PRG have lost one game this season, to Affies at St Johns, with a score of 22-25. Looking forward to Saturdays game against Bishops.

#4 Highlander: Alex in the eastern cape, near Somerset East. It’s an agricultural boys high school.

They seem to be playing well-saw them push KES to 1 point. Got 2 phenomenal props, Stormers need to start scouting at these schools

#6 Highlander: Hey, now see what i meant yesterday about the eastern cape producing one springbok after another without a provincial side. It’s criminal

Thats why the spears or the southern Kings or whatever they going to call themselves are so important Look at the schools there:

    Grey
    Selborne
    Dale
    Queens
    St.Andrews
    Marlow
    Die Brandwag
    Daniel Pienaar
    Kingswood

NMMU needs to team up with EP and get these talented players to study and stay in PE. imagine how strong NMMU and EP will be if the right structures get put in place…………………………………….

#8 Highlander: My point exactly! But it all depends on the management structures though.

Paul Roos has a good team this year, if they will beat Grey Bloem is to be seen. I do beleive they will be more competative against Grey this year than the last 2 years. The good news for PRG is that the majority of the 1st team is in GR11 and their current under 16 team has a great record. Only time will tell…BTW PRG should walk their match against Bishops this weekend!

#16 Bergie: Just a pity the u/16 team has a Played 4 loss 4 against Paarl Boys in the last 2 years…Twice in the 15 man and twice in Sevens….and loved your prediction on the Bishops game!

#17 RDPollard: Maybe Paarl Boys has a better u16 team? But that is all they have, when last did the 1st team not get a beating from Paarl Gym or when last did they beat Paul Roos or any team that playes without bells on the balls.

#18 Bergie: Bergie , perrhaps you should rather worry about how the wheels will no come off for you beloved PRG team , your team is never be one who can handle the pressure and normally one lost will mean many will follow . Your memory of your team success against Paarl Gym and Boishaai and even Landbou ( not forgeeting Bishops ) is not rosy at all , you should rather get your facts in order , you are clearly struggeling with selective memory .

#20 Red Rose: You have a very bad memory I see!! Let me help you. PRG never lost to Boishaai in the last 3 years and will win again this year. PRG beat Paarl Gym this year, my apologies, PRG gave Gym a hiding this year!! (LOL) PRG only lost once to Landbou and Gym in the last 4 years (still to play Landbou this year) PRG has a 50-50 record against Bishops in the last 4 years. PRG has only lost 2 games this year! (LOL)
