Whoever does these current rankings is high on crack. Bishops have flattened every Paarl school so far. Should be number 2 with Wynberg hovering in around position 10. Bishops were provincial champions in 2005, 2006 and second in 2008. Yet in these seasons the highest they finished was below the Paarl schools on the national ladder. Someone please help for I might be misguided here….

BISHOPSOD:I can help you with the inaccurate statement in your second sentence.Bishops beat Paarl Gym and Boland Landbou only in 2009.They will only play Paarl Boys High on 6 June.

#4 BishopsOD: and Bishops lost to Wynberg that is not even on the top 20. The game between Bishops and Paarl Boys should be very interesting.
I sat between many of Bishops supporters and most of the other Bishops team’s coaches when they played Paul Roos and I can got a lot of respect for them especially the coaches. They were not watching with one eye and they gave credit to good play by both sides and never made any negative comments. Well done!!

#4 BishopsOD: here is your the help you requested – Bishops lost 4 & drew 1 game in both 2008 & 2007. Losing 4 games (+ 1 draw) doesn’t put you in the pantheon of greatness. Grey Bloem & Paarl Gim have regularly gone an entire season without a single loss (1 at most).

Having said that Bishop vs Boishaai is going to be a cracker, I am def. going to watch it. HJS HJS HJS all the way.

FYI – Paul Roos isn’t a Paarl school, it’s in Stellenbosch. Paarl Boys’, Paarl Gim & Boland Landbou are Paarl schools.

[lastly, losing to Wynberg didn't help your ranking in 2009].

#6 Bergie: On the Wynberg defeat, it was the only defeat of the season so far. Along the way, Bishops has beaten Grey High, Gimmies, Paul Roos, Landbou, meaning that they should be second, at least. Are you sure they lost four games last season? I only recall defeats to Gym and Paul Roos.

Sorry about Roos being a Paarl school!

Yeah, the game this weekend is is gonna rock the Cape!

Paarl Gym is pretty crusty this year.

#9 BishopsOD: Bishops IS above all the schools that they’ve beaten this year. So no gripes there. If they beat Paarl Boys’ on Sat then they will jump futher up the ladder.

FYI – Paarl Boys beat Waterkloof and they are ranked below them. go figure.

what it comes down to is: Beat a team higher than you e.g: Affies or Grey Bloem and you earn major points. BUT beating teams lower on the list doesn’t carry much weight.

However if you happen to lose to a team lower on the list, e.g. Bishops vs Wynberg – and then you lose major rating points.

#10 brains_trust: Point taken. It’s just that there’s been controversy about the rankings (somewhere in the Southern Suburbs, of course  ).
So if a school is in the top four, technically, they are only looking to stay up there by staving off defeat against the lower ranked sides instead of gaining anything from these matches??? Ouch!

#9 BishopsOD: Appology accepted about Roos being in Paarl !(lol)

#11 BishopsOD: Saturday was a tough day for Bishops with Paarl Boys’ High First XV beating Bishops 31 – 12.

FYI – Paarl Boys’ won every single game on Saturday [i.e. All the U14, U15, U16 & U19 games]. HECTIC.

    Well done Boishaai – !
