St Andrew’s will be looking to claim their third big scalp in as many weeks when they play Selborne on Saturday.
Over the last two weekends the Grahamstown outfit have beaten Grey High (17-16) and thrashed Queens (50-10).
‘We have gained huge confidence from those wins,’ St Andrew’s coach Stafan Louwrens told keo.co.za. ‘But Selborne will be pumped up for this fixture in front of their home crowd, so we are expecting a tough, physical game.’
Saturday’s encounter could well be decided by the boot as both teams have outstanding goal kickers – Dale Sabbagh for the hosts and James Price for the visitors. Price, in particular, has been in superb form this season.
Selborne are also full of confidence after decimating Port Rex 43-5 last weekend. Coach Kevin Taylor coach will have worked on nullifying St Andrew’s expansive game and will tell his team to keep the ball among the pack.
In last year’s corresponding fixture, Selborne won 34-19 at St Andrew’s. While this year’s game has the potential to break open it will probably be a lot closer.
In the two other big games taking place around the country this weekend, Wynberg face a tricky encounter at Strand High on Friday night, with Paarl Boys’ hosting Boland Landbou on Saturday.
Most schools have a bye this weekend because of Youth Day on Tuesday.
