Baby Boks suffer big setback

SA U20 star Sias Ebersohn has been suspended for three weeks after making a dangerous tackle at the Junior World Champs.

Ebersohn was cited after the Baby Boks beat France 43-27 on Saturday for a hit on the French inside centre, Geoffrey Doumayrou, in the 33rd minute of the second half.

‘Sias was found guilty of a dangerous tackle and he has been suspended for three weeks, ruling him out of the rest of the tournament,’ said Willem Oliphant, the South African team manager.

‘The incident probably looked worse than it really was. It was a niggly game and we are very disappointed that Sias got suspended. It’s a huge loss for us. We do have the option to appeal and must make that decision within 24 hours, but we have not decided yet if we are going to do that.

‘Under the IRB’s regulations we are not allowed to replace Sias, but we do have enough cover in the squad.”

Francois Brummer, who played at inside centre against the French, could be used at fullback when the Baby Boks faces England in their semi-final on Wednesday in Tokyo. Such a move could see Nicolaas Hanekom come into the side at outside centre, with squad captain Robert Ebersohn moving into the No 12 jersey.

According to Oliphant, Robert Ebersohn was cited for the same incident, but was acquitted.

“Robert Ebersohn was cited for the same incident, but was acquitted”

So are the Kiwi and Aussie citing commissioner now resorting to a desperate shotgun-style hit and miss form of citing?

I am surprised that the entire backline weren’t cited simultaneously – anything to keep our guys out of training, right?

Perhaps they couldn’t distinguish between the identical twins, and cited them both….arseholes.

When the going gets tough, the smart get sneaky.

When the going gets tough. Maybe get yourself a Land Rover.

But when the going gets tough for the Bokke…..they get dirty….every time.

And hey, if this Oke has a Twin Brother…….ban him as well, the same genes, the same dysfunctional miscreant DNA.

Two for the price of one……..what more could a Citing Commitee ask for.
