Tokyo has been confirmed as the host city for this year’s fourth Bledisloe Cup match between Australia and New Zealand.
The Japanese Rugby Football Union revealed that the match would go ahead at Tokyo’s national stadium on 31 October – one week before the Wallabies and the All Blacks begin their annual end-of-season European tours.
‘For rugby fans in Japan, this will be a rare opportunity to experience first hand, dynamic and superb performances by top players from the Antipodean nations,’ the JRFU said in a statement.
This marks the second year running that the two sides will compete in a fourth Bledisloe Cup clash on neutral turf to generate extra revenue.
The United States and Britain had also offered to host the match, but the two teams indicated that Asia was their preferred choice following the success of last year’s fourth match in Hong Kong.
