Bastareaud in hospital
30 Jun 2009
France centre Mathieu Bastareaud’s has been hospitalised suffering from serious psychological issues.
The Stade Francais player admitted last week that he made up the story about being assaulted in Wellington before reports later emerged that the 20-year-old may have been punched by a French teammate.
But in the latest twist to the saga, Stade Francais president Max Guazzini revealed that the youngster had on Monday been admitted to a psychiatric hospital.
‘Journalists have even gone to his house and that of his parents,’ said Guazzini. ‘He is completely devastated, he has to be left alone.’

yes, you are right, who knows what went through the poor buggers head, thought someone suggested he might be very religious or something and was afraid of embaressing his folk, who knows, could equally be likely that he might just be very full of bs.

Word is that 3 players fought over the 2 hookers they brought back to the hotel and thats how the injury arose. Perhaps mid roast, someone got a potato or carrot in their eye ?

zero
is the number that equals
nought
that is otherwise known as
zilch
or perhaps known as
nill
or in the past tense as
nilled.
There are only two things that matter in rugby.
The last match.
And the next one.

So he was deemed psychologically fit by the French Rugby Union’s doctors to handle the rigours of representing his nation in a volatile physical encounter – just not at telling the truth.
Everybody makes mistakes, not everyone lies & doing the right thing is not easy. If you make a mistake & are selfish enough to lie about it AND silly enough to get caught out – step up, take personal responsibility & offer an unreserved apology WITHOUT tacking on excuses. You might be surprised by how many people respond with “well, okay then – please don’t do that again” & everyone moves on.
I really do hope the chap is fine & moves on happily, but I don’t feel particularly sorry for him – the quagmire he finds himself in is of his own making.
When did personal responsibility become so unfashionable ?

Le Bastardeau jumped into the River Seine and tried to drown himself but those pool sessions with the team meant he actually could swim…

So it’s true then. The psychiatric hospital found him in Seine.
